Social Studies Intern Reflection Week 1

Going into this Internship, I really did not know what to expect. I am now glad that I will get the opportunity to develop lesson plans and possibly teach some of the students in Ms. Schmidt's contemporay issues class. So far I have been looking over some ciriculum information pertaining to subjetcs such as immigration history as well as world war II and the Cold War conflict. I am planning on developing some ideas for possible projetcs and class activities that Ms. Schmidt could use for all three of her classes. In addition to looking over ciriculum and planning class activities, i have been aiding Ms. Schmidt with her class activities during her first block class which is contemporary issues. One of the biggest ways I have helped the students in her class is by advising them on how to create online blogs and message boards for them to use during class. The students will use these blogs to debate over topics they they talk about in class or watch in the news. These blogs will help students to express their opinions and reflect on information they learn during class discussion or on other media sources. I look forward to helping out Ms. Schmidt with her classes this semester and learning skills that will benefit me later when I have a classroom of my own.
